For 101 years, the Golden Family has celebrated a reunion during the Labor Day weekend in Clearview, Oklahoma. Family members from all points of the United States travel to Clearview to celebrate the remarkable remembrance of the lady of began the uniting of this family. In 1906, Dolly Golden and her husband Ashford Miner and their eight children traveled from Texas to Clearview, Indian Territory to begin a new life. In December, 1907, one more child was born to the family, Ashford passed in 1913, leaving Dolly a widow. She remained in Clearview until her death in August of 1953.

Marjorie was the fifth-born daughter of Imogene and Alphonso Bruton. Marjorie attended Elementary School and High School in her hometown of Clearview and was respected and loved members of her community. Marjorie was baptized member of her family Church, Tyree Chapel AME.
