Wetumka Board of Education Regular Meeting Wetumka Public Schools December 2,2024 The Wetumka Board of Education held their regular meeting, December 2, 2024 in the Administration Office Board Room. The following members, administrators, personnel and guests were present : Travis Gates, Rufus Scott, Donnie Williamson, Pacer Lowe, Nina Maas, and Misty Bowman Invocation and Flag Salute The meeting was called to order by President Rufus Scott at 6:00pm Recording of members present and absent: Present: Scott, Wil-liamson, Lowe, Maas Absent: Glover WACT: None PTA: None Consent Agenda: All of the following items, which concern reports and items of a routine nature normally approved at a board meeting, will be approved by one vote unless any board member desires to have a separate vote on any or all of these items. The consent agenda consists of the discussion, consideration, and approval of the following items: a. Request approval of the agenda as part of the minutes; b. Request approval of the minutes of the November 7,2024 regular board meeting c. Vote to approve, disapprove or table the General Fund encumbrances and change or-ders; d. Vote to approve,disapprove, or table Building Fund encumbrances and change orders; The Board voted to approve the consent agenda items a Motion was made by Nina Maas, and seconded by Donnie Williamson.

Carol Brice ~ April 16, 1918 - February 15, 1985

Carol Brice was an American contralto. She worked at Oklahoma University. She was born in Sedalia, North Carolina, she studied at Palmer Memorial Institute and later at Talladega College in Talladega, Alabama, where she received a Bachelor of Music in 1939. She continued her studies at the Juilliard School of Music from 1939 to 1943. She attracted considerable attention for her role in a 1939 production of The Hot Mikado at the New York World’s Fair, where she worked with Bill “Bojangles” Robinson. Brice made her recital debut in 1943, that year becoming the first African-American to win the Walter Naumburg Award. Her concerts often featured the piano accompaniment of her brother, Jonathan Brice. In 1945 she taught briefly at Black Mountain College.
