Read moreMrs. Charlotte Louise Jackson Walker was born August 15, 1915 to Clearview, Oklahoma farmers Floyd and Dessie Marina Jackson. At her birth, Clearview was only 13 years old, and the state of Oklahoma was only eight years old. She was the oldest of six sisters and six brothers. In 1927, Charlotte graduated from Clearview Douglass Rosenwald High School. After graduation, she worked at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City to earn enough money to attend Langston University. On September 12, 1935, she was admitted to Langston University attended until her money was depleted. Charlotte returned to Tinker to work and eventually returned to Langston, finally on July 21, 1944, she completed her Lifetime teaching certificate for grades 1 through 8 grade and a degree in Home Economics.
