The First Baptist Church South will host their 1st Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Breakfast on January 20th beginning at 7:30 a.m. The event is honoring the civil rights leader MLK Jr. The guest speaker of the day is Alvin Bailey, NFL Super Bowl Champion of the Seattle Seahawks, and son of the Wilbert Zackery and the late Ida Mae Zackery. French Family Celebrate Christmas December 28

The French Family, descendants of Lawrence and Marguerite French, met at the Clearview Main Street Community Center for their annual Christmas Party. About fifty family members attended the annual event. Nicole West, granddaughter of Veola French West, planned several games enjoyed by all ages which kept family members engaged throughout the afternoon. The younger members planned the meal for the day while the older members enjoyed the grands and great grandchildren play their games and learn much ancestral history.

Hughes County Sheriff Receives $250,000 Grant
