Erline Barber was born to George and Rosie Simpson in Clearview, Oklahoma. She grew up with her sister Ruby Simpson. She was married W. T. Barber and through this union four children were born. Erline was a foster parent to many children raising an additional seven along with her own. Erline was a pilar of her community and loved by everyone.

Darlene Simpson was born August 12, 1962, to Erline and W. T. Barber in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She later moved with her family to Wichita, Kansas. She attended Mizpah Baptist Church under the leadership of W. H. Rice. She sung in the choir and on the junior usher board. Darlene later joined the Greater Victorious Cross Church of God and Christ under the leadership of Superintendent R. G. Hines. She loved bringing her grandchildren to church and loved her family. Darlene departed this life Thursday, October 21, 202, with her daughters by her side. All who loved her, was very close to her. The name my mom was given, but to all her grandchildren she was “MOMO.” Darlene had a warm heart and loved family. All she wanted was for her daughters to love her and she got that and so much more. Darlene was her daughter’ best friend. They could talk to her about everything. Her daughter felt like we were more sisters than anything.
