April Briscoe, the principal at Wetumka Elementary School, has taken that statement and run! She has a vision for creating an environment where community members are given an opportunity to be that “caring adult” by being a part of “Circle Back”.

by April Briscoe, Principal Giving children the foundation they need to become well-rounded, healthy individuals is a core value at Wetumka Elementary. This core value includes recognizing the benefits of playing during recess. Research shows improved working memory, mood, and attention after physical activity. Additionally, playing with classmates helps children develop and sharpen social skills. When students are faced with inclement weather, however, and not able to go outside to play, research shows that students’ performance levels drop.
