It is with loving hearts that we announce the passing of Bobbie “Jean” McCoy Webb, age 94, of Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 27, 2025. Jean was born on August 28, 1930 in Earlsboro, Oklahoma to Homer and Ruby Grimes.
She spent most of her childhood in Wetumka, where she graduated as Salutatorian of Wetumka High School in 1948. Jean’s life journey was marked by resilience. In 1948, on her 18th birthday, she married the love of her life, Frank “Coley” McCoy, which was his 29th birthday!
They made Wetumka their home and raised their three sons, Mike, Steven and Jeff. Before starting a family, Jean worked at the Time Theater, Wetumka Public Schools and the Hughes County Times. In 1961, she began her career as a Medical Transcriptionist at the Williams Clinic. She maintained the medical records with meticulous care and was highly respected by her co-workers. After Dr.
Williams passing in 1982, she continued her medical work at the Okemah Indian Hospital until her retirement. Jean was an active member of the Wetumka First United Methodist Church for many years. She and Coley participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the church’s new site, which is the current location. Jean later served as the treasurer for the church and handled the finances with integrity. She enjoyed the friendships she made as an active member of the United Methodist Women. Her faith guided her actions throughout her life.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, Homer and Ruby (Smathers) Grimes, her beloved husband Coley, and her second husband, Cullas Webb. Jean cared for her brother-in-law, Clarence McCoy until his passing. Jean and Cullas were married in 2004 and they shared many happy years together in Norman, Oklahoma until his passing in 2018. In 2024 Jean moved to Tulsa to be closer to family, including her five great- grandchildren!
Jean is survived by her three sons, Mike (Lelia) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Steven (Pam) of Orlando, Florida and Jeff (Charlene) of Fort Worth, Texas. She was a very proud grandmother to her seven grandchildren, Matt (Brittanie), Scott (Brittany), Lexy, Turner, Scott Steven (Megan), Brandon (Jess) and Madison (Seth). She also has five great- grandchildren, Brooks, Harrison, Jax, Tenley and Matteo. Jean was also a stepmother to Rex Webb (Nancy) of Phoenix, Arizona, Tany Webb of Norman and Shannon Webb Darby (Bryan) and an earthly grandmother to Theryn Darby of Roanoke, Texas.
Jean’s legacy is one of kindness, unwavering love for her family and her faith. Her warm smile will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing her. Jean’s love for her family and her faith will live on in the many lives that she touched.
We will honor her through the love we give to others, just as she did during her life.
